About PayCalculator
PayCalculator is a small set of free, accurate financial calculators for the US and Canada — built to actually be useful instead of upselling you on something.
What's here
- A US paycheck calculator with all 50 states, DC, and major local taxes (NYC, Yonkers, every Maryland county, Philadelphia, major Ohio/Michigan/Indiana cities, etc.) — plus 2026 federal brackets, FICA, and proper MFJ bracket math.
- A Canada paycheck calculator with all 13 provinces and territories, federal & provincial tax brackets, CPP/QPP (base + enhanced + CPP2), EI, QPIP, the Quebec abatement, the Ontario surtax and health premium, and the federal BPA phase-out.
- A debt payoff calculator that compares the avalanche and snowball methods side-by-side and shows the cascade effect when you add an extra payment.
- A budget calculator that scores your spending against the 50/30/20 rule (or 60/20/20 for high-cost areas, or 50/20/30 for aggressive savers) and tells you what to fix first.
Design principles
- Accuracy over flash. We model statutory brackets, surtaxes, abatements, BPA phase-outs, and locality wage taxes that most "free" calculators skip. Numbers are spot-checked against published government calculators and tools like SmartAsset and ADP.
- Speed. Every page is pre-rendered HTML served from a CDN. The interactive parts hydrate only when you touch them.
- No friction. No signup walls. No "enter your email to see results." No 30-second loading splash.
- Privacy by default. Salary, debt, and budget figures are processed entirely in your browser. They never leave your device. Read the privacy policy for details.
How we make money
PayCalculator runs on a mix of display advertising and affiliate referrals — the same model used by NerdWallet, Bankrate, and most personal-finance sites. We disclose every sponsored link clearly per FTC guidance. Calculator math is entirely independent of which partners pay us. Full details on the affiliate disclosure page.
Updates
Tax brackets are updated every January when the IRS and CRA publish the new year's figures. State and provincial rate changes are tracked throughout the year. If you spot something out of date, email hello@paycal.co.
Not financial advice
PayCalculator is an information and tools website, not a licensed tax preparer, financial advisor, or accountant. Calculators produce estimates based on the inputs you provide and the rules in effect for the displayed tax year. For decisions that materially affect your finances, consult a credentialed professional in your jurisdiction.
